Caretta, City of a Thousand Sunsets

Caretta, City of a Thousand Sunsets is an anthology of urban pastel games in development. It is inspired by The Sundered Land by Meguey and Vincent Baker.

What is urban pastel?
Urban pastel is a term I've been using for a trend in art I've seen by primarily queer Asian-American artists. Themes of loneliness, heartache, magical moments, and longing for human connection are set against a city backdrop of soft colors and edges and drawn in a style that is heavily inspired by but not quite anime. Characters are often shouldering heavy burdens and complicated relationships, but are trying to live full lives in spite of it. They stumble upon moments that are magical that make life in the city, with all its struggles, worth it. Urban pastel has much in common with fabulism, especially the proposed genre of domestic fabulism (written about here in Electric Lit).
