The Isle of Craters

The Isle of Craters is a land of smoking calderas, rich farmland, and a muddy inland sea. It was conquered by the Kingdom of Spines centuries ago, but the kingdom’s rule over the island has been nominal for decades due to infighting in the royal court.

But now the king is dead, and his usurpers, defeated handily in battle, have fled to your island. Northern and southern armies alike, they care little for you and your kind. Farms have been ransacked and burned, mountain villages torn apart in search of retreating foes.

You reach for rusted weapons and forbidden magics. The only language they understand is blood, and it is easy to become fluent when you have lost the ability to die.
